International Staff Training Week

This is a web-based course in Climate Change for students without pre-requisite knowledge. The course is aimed at narrowing the gap between active research and young generations and citizens instilling capabilities to interpret the debate.

The festival will showcase a variety of live, online CPD for academic and professional service colleagues at University of Birmingham. There will also be a strong focus on some of the key themes initially outlined in our HEFi20 conference, which has sadly been postponed.

Taking part in the Open Classroom will provide participants a safe space to develop and enhance their teaching practice. If you choose to take part in the initiative you will be able to observe, or have observed a particular element of online teaching practice that you would like to learn about or showcase.

An inclusive educator is concerned about the success and well-being of all students, and is committed to learning about how some teaching practices can be exclusionary. Of course, all staff are concerned about their students but if we fail to examine our customary practices from time to time, we may not realise that we are – unintentionally – excluding some students in our classes.
