Promoting cultural competencies within higher education
Context
Cultural literacies (in-service training).
"Living up to the standards of an inclusive institution of higher education where students, teachers, researchers and support staff embrace the advantages of diversity, requires a combination of insights, awareness and competencies that can be gathered under the thematic umbrella of cultural literacies. One of the main keys in this context is to foster intercultural and transcultural learning and working environments rather than multicultural environments. For this purpose, Linnaeus University offers students and employees a variety of activities that aim to increase knowledge, raise awareness and acquire useful tools. An example of such activity is an International Staff Training Week that has been held annually, including lectures and workshops, exchange of experiences and opportunities for networking between academic and administrative staff from Lnu and its partner universities."
